Director's Statement

‘Pinch & Ouch’ tells a personal story about navigating dreams and ambitions against different obstacles such as the global pandemic landscape, and blurred lines between power dynamics and mentorship. It aims to highlight the ongoing life challenges and different levels of vulnerabilities, as well as the coping mechanisms in times of uncertainty.

‘Pinch & Ouch’ offers a glimpse into the universal struggles individuals face when aspirations can collide with reality. As I found myself recalibrating my life during lockdown, it ignited a suppressed yearning to take action on dreams whilst dealing with complexities of decision-making, in particular within imposed restrictions from a global level to the studio environment.

Ultimately, we don’t have control over the ‘pinch’ but we can control the ‘ouch’ in how we choose to deal with it.
